YOUR ELECTRICal BILL
IS BROKEN!
California’s climate goals are the most ambitious in the nation but come with multi-billion-dollar price tag.
Every month, millions of Californians pay for these goals through their electric bills, which now cover things like electric vehicle charging stations, energy efficiency programs, subsidies for rooftop solar customers, discounts for low-income households, and many other programs not related to providing electric and gas service.
Sacramento politicians have been quick to add mandates to energy bills, but they are now backing legislation that will shield wealthy, suburban customers from these impacts, while placing more and more of the financial burden on the backs of the middle class.
Fix Our Electric Bills is a coalition of labor, business and customer advocates telling Sacramento politicians to take responsibility for their past decisions, support energy rates equity and fix our electric bills today!
To help address the ongoing affordability crisis in the Golden State, the California Public Utilities Commission is taking modest steps in the direction of rate reform. These proposals are intended to help create equity when it comes to paying for various environmental mandates that have been placed on the energy bill.
ELECTRIC BILLS IN CALIFORNIA ARE OUT OF CONTROL
Myth vS. Fact
Social justice, equity advocates, consumer groups, labor and environmental organizations strongly support rate reform in California to address the affordability crisis. Sadly, politicians, the solar industry and other special interests are misrepresenting these efforts as they try to avoid paying their fair share.
What’s In YOur Bill?
Subsidies for rooftop solar customers, public purpose programs, and wildfire costs are only a few of the items being funded by your household electric bill.
